In short: VoxelVision processes and stores imaging data on-device. No analytics or tracking. Exports, feedback, and SharePlay image transfers are initiated by you.
Overview
VoxelVision is a spatial medical image viewing tool designed for personal exploration, education, and research purposes. It is not a medical device and is not intended for clinical diagnosis or treatment. The app supports CT, MR, PET, and NM modalities via DICOM, as well as NIfTI and NRRD volume files. Imaging data is processed and stored locally; annotations and segmentations are saved with the case.
Design References
Its data handling follows established imaging and privacy standards, and its measurements are checked following metrology conventions:

Subject Data Protection
Imported imaging data is processed and stored entirely on the local device. VoxelVision never uploads imaging data to any server or cloud service and never collects or shares subject information contained in the imaging data — including name, subject ID, date of birth, or other protected health information (PHI). The only exception is a transfer you start yourself: when you share an image in a Collaboration Session, it goes directly to the participants of your FaceTime call over Apple's end-to-end encrypted SharePlay channel.
User Data Protection
This software does not collect, store, or transmit any personal user information or device identifiers. Annotations carry a random per-install identifier — never your name — so contributions in shared cases can be told apart. The app does not use analytics, tracking, advertising frameworks, or any third-party data collection services.
Runtime Logs
VoxelVision includes built-in runtime logs for troubleshooting purposes. These logs do not contain any DICOM protected health information (PHI) or user privacy data. You can view and export log content on the in-app "Logs & Feedback" page, or send it by email with "Email with Logs" — the log is attached automatically and sending is always user-initiated. Exported logs are saved to the VoxelVision folder in the Files app for you to review before sharing.
In-App Purchases
VoxelVision offers optional in-app purchases processed entirely through Apple's App Store infrastructure. The developer does not have access to your payment information.
World Sensing
VoxelVision uses Apple's spatial tracking technologies (ARKit on iPad and iPhone; visionOS world tracking on Apple Vision Pro) in immersive mode to position and orient 3D medical visualizations in your physical space. VoxelVision uses device pose information to position the view. It does not upload spatial tracking data to the developer.
Third-Party Services
VoxelVision does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. Local image viewing works offline. Apple services provide purchases, sample downloads, and user-initiated SharePlay sessions.
Sample Data Acknowledgement
Starting from version 2.0.0, sample images, including a matched CT/PET pair, are downloaded from Apple’s servers. You can keep or delete them and restore them from Settings.
The sample datasets included in this app are sourced from publicly available, de-identified research datasets and contain no personally identifiable information. Full citations are available on the Acknowledgements page.
Data Collection
VoxelVision does not collect any data from its users. Exports, feedback, and SharePlay sessions let you choose what to share.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of VoxelVision after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
